Free Skin Cancer Screening at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center June 7th
Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center and Paul Kostuchenko, MD, PhD, are teaming up for a free Skin Cancer Screening, Friday, June 7 from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. The screening takes 10 minutes and could save your life!
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer are diagnosed each year, while more than 76,400 people develop melanoma, one of the deadliest forms of skin cancer. Though the statistics are sobering, skin cancer actually is one of the most preventable forms of cancer.
Although melanoma incidence rates are 10 times higher for Caucasians than for African-Americans; people with dark-pigmented skin can develop melanoma, particularly on the palms of the hands, on the soles of the feet, under the nails, and inside the mouth.
