Job Overview:
Davidson Funeral Home is seeking a motivated and compassionate Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprentice to join our team at the Lexington location. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn the funeral industry from experienced professionals while obtaining the required knowledge and skills for licensure. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving families during their time of need and a strong desire to grow within the profession.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist licensed funeral directors and embalmers with all aspects of funeral service
• Learn and perform embalming, dressing, casketing, and cosmetizing of deceased individuals
• Assist with arranging and directing funerals, including coordinating with families and clergy
• Handle the transportation of deceased individuals, including removals and transfers
• File death certificates and obtain required legal documentation
• Assist with the preparation of obituaries, memorial materials, and service details
• Support families with compassion, guiding them through the funeral planning process
• Ensure the funeral home is maintained to high standards of cleanliness and readiness
• Participate in all aspects of apprenticeship training to meet licensure requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Current enrollment or intent to enroll in an accredited funeral service education program
• Ability to work with families in a compassionate and professional manner
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Willingness to learn and develop within the funeral service profession
